Peyton - I would suggest you do some research into the proposed Airport Overlay District, and the related future extension of the runway for Rock Hill Airport.

The area around Hollis and Heckle appears to lie within the AOD, which, if adopted by Rock Hill and the county, will impose some additional zoning restrictions to make future growth in the area compatible with the future growth and safety of the airport.

I imagine some folks will view the changes in a positive light, while others will be neutral or negative to the new AOD. It's best to be informed, though, before purchasing property in that area ... the seller of a residential property will not be required to disclose whether the property lies within the AOD.

Since the Hollis / Heckle intersection appears to be along one of the runway approaches to the airport, the planned runway extension might be a greater concern for you, with regards to safety and / or noise.

RH Airport is a general aviation facility (as opposed to handling commercial flights) that currently handles about 40,000 local and transient operations a year. The airport master plan projects that number will double by 2025.

The runway extension will enable more aircraft to land under adverse conditions, such as on very warm or rainy days, when aircraft need more runway to come to a stop.

The Rock Hill city council will have a second reading of the AOD proposal this Monday, October 27. On the city's website are some materials regarding the proposed AOD:

Official Website of the City of Rock Hill, South Carolina (SC) (http://www.ci.rock-hill.sc.us/dynSubPage.aspx?deptID=14&pLinkID=472 - broken link)

At that URL, there is also a link to one of the WRHI radio "Straight Talk" programs that dealt with the AOD. If you want more information about the AOD, and have a 1/2 hour to listen to the program, it is well-worth it.

I know it will be different, and not as convenient, but I don't mind driving a few minutes to Charlotte for nightlife. Is this area safe? Clean? Quiet? I go to see the house Monday, and will get a better feel for the neighborhood then, but I was looking to get some feedback from some of you who live in the area. Thanks in advance!
I moved to the area you are referring to 3 years ago. (Old Creek off of Ole Woods & Hollis Lakes) I love it here. Very quiet, well established quaint little neighborhoods in this area.
