Hello, I am going to be visiting Rock Hill within the next few weeks as I am considering moving to the area (I'm considering attending Winthrop). I currently live in Myrtle Beach, but have never been to Rock Hill...or Charlotte. Can anyone give me a little information as to what Rock Hill is like, or if there's a downtown where that is. If it's a rural area I'm wondering if I should just spend the time in Charlotte. What do you think? Thanks so much!

Welcome to Rock Hill and Winthrop ...

Winthrop is not a rural area it is basically in the heart of Rock Hill. If you stay on campus you will be within walking distance to several good restaurants (White Horse Ltd. is across the street and has great food,) drug stores, grocery store, The Bookworm, a music store and even a Dollar Store. If you are into clubs, that is within walking distance too The Money, Silver Dollar Saloon and Tams Tavern is within walking distance. Several churches are nearby.

Winthrop Coliseum is about a mile from the university. The sports complex is there basketball, baseball and golf course. In addition Winthrop Lake and club house is there, when the weather is warm you will see students riding their bikes around the area or soaking up the sun while they study.

Downtown is another mile from Winthrop ... not much retail but we have:
Open Mic Night at McHale's
Comedy Night at McHale's
Greek Night at Old Town Bistro
Italian Night at Old Town Bistro
Sunday Brunch at Old Town Bistro
Monday Night Hospitality Bicycle Ride
York County Library
The Rock Hill Yoga Center
Kinch's Restaurant
Rock Hill Arts Council

You really need to visit Rock Hill and Winthrop. Depending on what you are looking for, as I have tried to hit on a few things we have to offer and that is just a few.

It will be worth your time to spend a weekend up here and look us over.

Come-See-Me Festival is coming up April 16 - 25 ... if you can visit during that time I am sure you will be pleasantly surprised. Here is the website ... Click on the Calendar of Events to get an idea of what goes on.

If you want retail, Cherry RD and Dave Lyle are the busy places. You can live in the rural area and still be minutes from a mall or retail. Charlotte is only 30 minutes away if you want more social/night life. Pineville has one of the best malls I've been to and it's only 20 minutes away.
