Seasons greetings all,
Don't get me wrong I love the winter but I'm already looking forward to spring so I'm looking now at what seeds I might start soon. I'm just wondering what are some favorites around this area and also any good places to buy plants/seeds would be appreciated.
Ask your neighbors for some seeds. I collect mine in the fall and add new ones in the spring.
I have purchased seeds on Ebay with luck, so far.
Favorites will depend on what size you want. I think roses are the #1 flower here along with Camelias. They come in all sizes, types and colors.
Be sure to get drought-tolerant plants because of the heat. I see a lot of Black-eyed Susans around mailboxes. I enjoy my Texas Star Hibiscus, but you'll need a lot of room for them. Zinnias are nice but tend to get powdery mildew. Watch out for that. Impatiens are also very popular here. They need a lot of water! Go to the Clemson Extention website and you'll find a list of flowers for our area and someone to contact to ask questions.
