Hi, I am relocating soon to the Charlotte area from DC. I have read numerous post on here about the Charlotte area, but not much about Tega Cay SC. The area looks pretty nice and the public schools seem to be above average.

A little about me. I have a wife and three children ages 4 - 10. I am going to be working in uptown and plan to spend between 450 and 550 for a house.

Any information/opinions you can provide about the T.C. area would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

In my never to be humble opinion () you are zeroing in on one of the best places to live in the Charlotte area.

In your price range you will find an awesome home. The neighborhood atmosphere is awesome and the schools are great. If you need some realtor help I know one or two people I could personally, highly recommend to you - just let me know

I agree w/Loves. I live in Steele Creek, which is right across the NC border from Tega Cay, and if we had looked around more we probably would have chosen Tega Cay for our home. I love Steele Creek, and we are so thankful we live here, but if we ever move to another part of Charlotte, Tega Cay is where we will be!

You will definitely find a lovely home for your price range, and the schools there are the best in SC. No crime to speak of either. It's a pretty idyllic place to live!

The Tega Cay area is a great area and is in a very good school system. In your price range you should do exceptionally well. From the price range you listed you are in "Buyer Heaven" because of the slow seller's market in the
300K+ arena.

You should also post you inquiry on the South Carolina (York County) CD board as Tega Cay is in South Carolina.

You also might want to look into Lake Wylie (unincorporated area of York County). It also has a similar commute and another highly rated school system (Clover Schools). As it is an unincorporated area ,the taxes are a lot lower (my house is assessed at 470K and the taxes are less than $2000 per annum).

Good luck in your search and fire as many questions that you have. The board is very helpful and can help make your transition easier.

I could have sworn Tega Cay was located in South Carolina and was not part of Charlotte...

Yes, it is in SC, but it's considered a suburb of Charlotte. You know, the metro area?

Thank you all for your responses. I am moving down within the month and want to get a better feel for the city and surrounding suburbs. Funny everyone and I mean everyone I told that I moving to Charlotte says I'm gonna love it. I am sure I will! Thank you again for all your input!

So how did the move go?? Update? I am looking at houses in the Tega Cay/ Lake Wylie area after living in Charlotte for a little over 5 years. I am ready for lower taxes and crime, and a more laid back lifestyle in general. If you are still around, let us know how things are down there.
