Jeff Shelton & Sean Clark Memorial Fundraiser

Manchester Plaza in Rock Hill, SC from 11am-3pm presented by the Rock Hill Police Dept. and the Rock Hill Fire Dept., 100% of proceeds will benefit the Shelton & Clark families. Shelton and Clark were 2 police officers with the CMPD who were killed in March 2007. Activities include dunking booth, cookout, raffle, special kids area with face painting and card-making. Police Officer Clark and Police Officer Jeffrey Shelton were shot and killed after responding to a disturbance call.
At approximately 11:30 pm, the two officers responded to a disturbance call in an east Charlotte housing complex on Barrington Drive. While investigating the disturbance, a struggle with a subject ensued during which the two officers were both shot.
Both officers were transported to the Carolinas Medical Center where they died from their injuries.
The shooter fled the scene, but a suspect was later arrested and charged with two counts of first-degree murder. The suspect has five prior convictions for resisting arrest and assaulting a government official.
Officer Clark had served with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department for one year and was assigned to the North Tryon Division. He is survived by his expectant wife and 2-year-old son.
Officer Shelton had served with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department for six years and was assigned to the North Tryon Division. He is survived by his wife.
