Media

The story goes that when one of Boulder’s early citizens decided the rough mining town needed a newspaper to encourage a sense of community, he simply drove his wagon to a nearby town, loaded up that town’s newspaper press, and Boulder had its newspaper. Apparently the notion took, and Boulder has been blessed (or cursed, depending upon your perspective) with a wealth of newspapers ever since. Currently, the town supports one daily, one semi-daily, alternative weeklies, and a number of special-interest newspapers. Boulder was one of the first cities in the nation (outside of the New York metro area) where the New York Times became available for home delivery. And the Denver dailies show periodic fascination with the odd little town to the north.

In addition to several local radio stations, the city also has cable television channels for city information, citizen input, and CU programming. Denver’s four local television stations also include Boulder in their coverage area.
