Description: A four-year Roman Catholic women’s college with coeducational graduate programs, St. Joseph enrolls about 1,900 students. Undergraduate programs in the liberal arts are housed in the schools of health and natural sciences, humanities and social sciences, education, and pharmacy. Four graduate-degree programs are available, including social work and Latino community practice, and a continuing education curriculum includes such programs as interdisciplinary certificates in autism spectrum disorders.

Description: Spanning 350 acres in West Hartford, the University of Hartford is home to more than 7,000 students and offers over 120 degree programs at the associate’s, bachelor’s, and graduate levels, with 7 certificate or diploma offerings. Seven schools make up the university, including the Barney School of Business; the College of Engineering, Technology, and Architecture; and the Hartt School, a performing arts conservatory. The university began with the joining of three schools, including the Hartford Art School, which was founded in 1877 by prominent Hartford women such as Olivia Landon Clemens (wife of Mark Twain) and Harriet Beecher Stowe. It was first housed in the Wadsworth Atheneum.
