Description: The Marathon Garden Club was organized in March 1955, and much of the lovely landscaping gracing Marathon’s public areas is the work of the club. You’ll notice the group’s creative handiwork at the American Legion, the chamber of commerce building, the firehouse, Fishermen’s Hospital, the public library, the Key Colony Causeway, along the Overseas Highway, and at Marathon High School. The group sponsors successful house and garden tours, plant and crafts fairs, and flower shows throughout the year. The Marathon Garden Club meets the third Fri of each month from Oct through May. The public is invited. The gift shop, which offers a changing selection of unusual specialty gift items, is open year-­round.
