Description: For an account of the Salem witch trials without the hocus-pocus, head to Danvers. Many of the events associated with the 1692 Salem witch trials occurred here when the town, located 5 miles north of Salem, was known as Salem Village. Rebecca Nurse, a mother and grandmother, and respected member of the community, was one of the first to be accused and hanged for witchcraft. The interior of her family’s 1678 saltbox home is authentic to the period. Guided tours of the homestead focus on myths and misconceptions relating to the trials. Open mid-June through Oct 31.

Facials are the spa’s specialty, though they also offer a range of other wonderful services including manicures and pedicures as well as nonsurgical medical procedures like Botox and laser treatments. For your first experience, try the seasonal-fruit body peel and massage and you’ll float out the door, ready to face the world again.
