Description: With more than 1,500 students in kindergarten through twelfth grade and both lower- and upper-school campuses, Charles E. Smith is the largest Jewish community day school in the country. This coed, Conservative school, founded in 1966, blends a liberal arts curriculum with traditional Jewish studies programs. The campuses are conveniently situated in downtown Rockville, near the Montgomery County administrative complex.

Description: Founded in 1789 by the Jesuits, Georgetown Prep is one of the metro area’s oldest private schools and is the country’s oldest Jesuit school. The 435 ninth- through twelfth-grade students who attend the all-male boarding school follow a curriculum steeped in academic and religious tradition. Honors and advanced placement courses are plentiful. Seniors are required to perform 40 hours of community service and participate in an ethics class. The 90-acre, collegelike campus is just a mile from the Capital Beltway.
