Description: Sail around Blackbeard’s former haunts aboard this gaff-rigged schooner that seats up to 30 passengers. One-hour cruises depart from the Community Store docks several times daily during summer months and cost $40 per person. Call for the schedule.

Description: In business since 1985, Ride the Wind features two floors of merchandise, ranging from the latest contemporary surf gear to casual, comfortable clothing and footwear for men and women. Ride the Wind rents surfboards, body boards, wet suits, and practically all Outer Banks water-sports equipment, except windsurfing items. Surfboards can be rented here. The shop is open seven days a week from Mar through Dec and is closed for the winter. Ride the Wind also offers outfitting trips to Portsmouth Island and a surf and kayak day camp for kids. Beginner surf lessons are available for adults and kids.

Description: Ride the Wind offers four two-and-a-half-hour kayak tours (the Sunrise, the Midday, the Sunset, the Full Moon) of Pamlico Sound and the surrounding estuarine waters every day in spring, summer, and fall, weather permitting.Any size group can be accommodated with advance notice. The fee includes kayak, life jackets, and a four-page plastic field guide to area fish, shellfish, and fauna. Call for prices. Reservations are strongly suggested during summer.

Description: Right in the heart of Ocracoke on Silver Lake, Anchorage Marina has 35 slips accommodating boats up to 120 feet long. Diesel fuel and gas are available. The marina is open year-round with no limit on the length of stays. The dock-side sMacNally’s Raw Bar is next door, and Anchorage offers bike rentals and small-boat rentals. Boaters have swimming pool and shower privileges.
