- Hickey's Music Center was founded in 1892 by Joseph Hickey as Hickey's Lyceum Music Store. The original store sold guitars, mandolins & banjos. Later, piano rolls and phonographs were added. The store found its niche in the early part of the 20th Century in printed sheet music, from popular music to school ensembles such as bands, orchestras and choirs. Before long pianos, band instruments and string instruments were added. The store has been in numerous locations and has reinvented itself to keep up with the times, weathering eight major wars and the Great Depression. The internet business hickeys.com was begun in 1994 with the opening of the web to the public. Today, we are a full line store you can visit in person or online.
