Kalamazoo: Health Care

Kalamazoo is home to three major health care facilities. Borgess Medical Center, with 426 beds, has special units in coronary, cardiac surgery, intensive, and neuro-intensive care and offers a wide range of diagnostic and therapeutic facilities. Bronson Methodist Hospital, with 343 beds, is a Level 1 Trauma Center, designated Children's Hospital, and Level 3 Perinatal Center. The hospital has special care units that treat patients for burns and for cardiac and coronary problems. It also offers intensive care, neonatal intensive care, pediatric intensive care, trauma care, and a hyperbaric unit.

Kalamazoo Regional Psychiatric Hospital, established in 1859, provides inpatient service for up to 173 adults throughout the southwestern Michigan region.
