Freeman House

Frank Lloyd Wright was a prominent architect throughout the United States. As part of a project there were a number of houses built in Los Angeles, California. One of these was the Freeman House erected in 1924. The house is located at 1962 Glencoe Way in Hollywood. Samuel Freeman House is one house based on textile blocking. There are two others besides the Freeman House. They were built for avant- garde members like Aline Barnsdall. Wright was asked to design the home and he was given a budget of $10,000.

He used the chance to create a concrete block house with 16 inch square base. The estimate was $12,000, but in actuality he charged $23,000 for the entire project. Harriet Freeman the eventual owner of the property lived in the home until 1986. She then donated it to the University of Southern California. The house did suffer some earthquake damage, which means tours are not available until the repairs are made. Unfortunately, USC is taking a bit of time for the repairs based on the need for funding. Other houses include Anderton Court, Dr. John Storer House, and Ennis House. These houses can be toured to see the architectural wonder Wright created.
