Description: Right on the highway about midway between I-40 and downtown Sevierville, Ripplin’ Waters is convenient to just about everything and a short walk from a couple of antiques malls and amusements. This campground is on a level plain with the Little Pigeon River at its back. Its 155 RV sites have full hookups, and you can fish directly from the riverside sites. A full hookup site is $26 to $29 per night ($28 to $31 for riverside sites), and four furnished cabins are available at $75 per night for two, plus $5 per person for anyone older than three. Ripplin’ Waters is open year-round and offers monthly rental rates.

Description: Just south of downtown Sevierville, River Plantation has more than 250 total sites, with 200 full hookups. Eight cabins are also available. A quiet walking trail along the Little Pigeon River provides a nice view of the mountains in the distance. All sites have full hookups and range from $30.50 to $49.50 in season. Cabins with kitchen and bathroom are $74 per night in season. Special consideration is given for groups to provide adjacent sites around the pavilion.

Description: The only commercial campground actually on Douglas Lake, this campground is adjacent to a full-service marina and has about 71 full hookup sites (including sewer) at $35 a night (for two adults and two kids) and one water/electric site for $30. The campground is within easy walking distance of a public park and has its own boat launch. Well-placed signage guides you into the campground from Douglas Dam Road, a little more than 5 miles from TN 66.

Description: Although their address technically places them in Pigeon Forge, you’ll actually find the entrance to the stables on the Parkway in Sevierville, just shy of the Pigeon Forge border. Their Parkway location makes Five Oaks one of the more conveniently located riding establishments in the area. The wrangler guides will help you mount your horse before leading you on a scenic trip through the 250-acre farm’s rolling and wooded hills, with great views of the mountains and the city below. Half-hour rides are $16.50, while one-hour rides are $22.00 (including tax). You must be at least six years old and less than 330 pounds to ride. The stables are open weather permitting, and no reservations are necessary. Five Oaks also has a gift shop and tack store.
