| A repair technician was called to service the pizza MUT cooler and arrived while the inspector was present. Ice was present on the coils and is being melted off. The unit's thermometer probe was encased in the ice block and so the cold rail did not know to cut on and cool the unit. The technician said the top cold wells are to be cut off at night to allow for defrosting, and someone must have left it on. Unit was turned back on at 4 pm and is currently dropping back down. Per the technician's equipment air temperature was 39.6 F at 4:15 pm. Make sure thermometers are calibrated on a regular basis. Inaccurate thermometers is what led staff to believe there were no temperature issues even though they do check temperatures throughout the day.
