Welcome To Case's Column

Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken. Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.

In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.

Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!

Regards,

Posted 05-27-2023 at 09:32 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

You could say that it happened in 1968. Who knew that one day, two guys born on this day would grow up to play Major League baseball?

The subjects and answers are in the following link. Don't want to spoil this.

Two baseball legends. Two baseball Hall-of-Famers. And they share the same birthday.

Nothing Plain Vanilla About Liking Chocolate

Posted 05-25-2023 at 07:37 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

Your compulsive writer has chocolate in his apartment nearly all the time. It might be in the form of nuggets, bars, drops, kisses, or truffles. Some of those might contain nuts, pecans, nougat, or caramel.

Or, it could be that I might have brownies. After all, who could possibly resist a soft brownie warmed over, and it's ooey and gooey and about to get washed down with a glass of milk? Periodically, I'd get some chocolate chip cookies, and especially...

Question From The Back Seat: "Dad, Are We Still In Texas?"

Updated Yesterday at 01:26 PM by case44

For the travelers amongst all of us, whoever you share life with, there are sure to be some memorable stories. No matter what happens, large or small, something in the course of your trip will make you look back and think a bit.

Now, I've chosen to be single, never been married, and by myself. That's a choice I've made, but that's also another blog post for another day. I also once was a kid, but I don't think I want to write about that a whole lot. At least,...

Ballpark Promotion Increases Attendance.......Kind Of

Posted 05-21-2023 at 09:29 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

Today's Texas Rangers baseball game at Globe Life Field presented something I thought I'd only see at minor league baseball games. That is, until this afternoon.

The attendance there was 33,000 human beings and 10,000 dogs. Evidently, the Rangers were doing a promotion where fans could bring their dogs to the ballpark for today's game. Many participated. Cameramen were quick to capture the many furry canines who graced the seating areas with their presences....

Case's Thought For The Day: For Confinement, Press One

Posted 05-19-2023 at 09:38 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

Time once again for our Thought For The Day. You know, phones are good to have when you need to reach out to people. And in today's world, smartphones serve another purpose when one either needs important information on the internet or if said person is just plain bored.

So, maybe it's that certain anyone out there who'd probably gotten too bored over things. That anyone would then reach out and touch someone to possibly share about the experience. In any event,...
