Welcome To Case's Column

Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken. Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.

In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.

Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!

Regards,

Mark Your Calendars For National Donut Day (Friday)

Posted Today at 08:30 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

June 5 is not just another day. This Friday, it will become National Donut Day in America. Whatever your desire is for your favorite donut, chances are, you might get some pretty good deals on Friday.

Every year in June, the first Friday is always designated for donuts. If I don't forget, then I might just pick up some of those great round thing-a-ma-bobs gathered neatly in a box, and then take them to work. And who doesn't like a good donut? Glazed,...

Riots Are Tipping Point Which Will Red-Pill America Like Never Before

Just when America was trying to get reopened up after the COVID-19 crisis, my goodness, another crisis unfolds. An ill-advised move by a Minneapolis police officer during the arrest of one George Floyd has triggered a crazy and alarming aftermath.

And here's the rub: A lot of the protests that have been going on ended up NOT having that much to do with honoring George Floyd. You'd think protests, in and of themselves, would be peaceful. In this day and age, you...

Interesting Question From The Forums With An Answer

I don't do this very much, but this writer couldn't resist.

A question was asked on the Garden forums as a pretty good thread starter, and it asked "What can be done about bee decline?" Now, I know the real intention of the thread, but what if I wanted to offer a zinger for that? Ol' Case just has something up his sleeve.

You ready for it?

So, I'll ask the previous question: What can be done about bee decline?

Frisco Classes Of 2020 Get What They Deserve: A Sunny Commencement

Posted 05-30-2020 at 08:26 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

Here's another reason to be glad Texas is reopening: High school seniors will not only graduate, but they'll get to participate in commencement exercises.

Really.

Now, you know that commencements are what usually happen during this time of year, but remember, Two Zero, Two Zero has not been an ordinary year. This could have just as easily not happened at all. Thanks to God and the miracle of healing (and all kinds of other intervention ), Texas...

Here's An Offer For Newsom And Cuomo: Dodgers-Yankees?

Our country is opening back up again and some positive things are happening. Some states, however, are still not yet even partially reopened.

You've been reading and/or hearing the news about California, New York, Michigan, Virginia, and New Jersey, and all the nonsense going on regarding COVID-19 and its recovery efforts. But for this post, I'll focus on the former two. California and New York actually make up a pretty big chunk of our nation's economy,...
