"No one owes you a job/anything"

Let's explain it, so a child can understand it. A typical job is an agreement between 2 parties where one party agrees to trade money in exchange for time and/or talent. It is an "at-will" agreement, meaning either party can terminate the arrangement when the desire is no longer present to keep the trade going. The mistake that some people have made is thinking that once such an arrangement commences, then they are entitled to force another to keep the agreement in place against their will. Why would such a mistake occur? Bad philosophy. Forgetting that it's a free country and employment is not a right or a guarantee to anyone at any time.
Some people have decided to thug it up and misuse political power to create corrupt artificial social structures (unions) that force one party to trade money for time whether they want to or not. This is a violation of liberty and freedom and goes against everything our country stands for. Others have also decided to thug it up, by misusing political power to compel one party to trade money for time at a mandated rate (price fixing, aka the minimum wage). Again, an atrocity against freedom and liberty and an affront to morality.
Caring and compassion have nothing to do with trading time for money. Competence is the quality you need to keep yourself employed as a valuable trading partner. If you make yourself good enough, there will always be many parties willing to trade money for your time and talent. If, on the other hand, one wants to be a sniveling whiner who demands entitlements and thinks he possesses intrinsic magic just for being born and demands a "living wage" simply because he needs it, he is sorely mistaken.

Recently, I needed medical attention after many years of being healthy. While I had insurance there was no, at-will agreement.
In the end their tests did me no good but still I was charged nearly $ 90,000 with some $ 4,000 out of pocket. I do not get to negotiate with a doctor, a lawyer or a dentist.
What i'm saying is you have reduced things to the lowest common denominator, maybe ten times simpler than the world around us. Don't think that will play out very well.Posted 03-14-2014 at 12:54 PM by Fortoggie
