A visit to Columbus

I just returned from a road trip where I was accompanying an acquaintance to job interviews in Columbus, Ohio. Coming from Chicago, it was our first time there, and we were both pleasantly surprised.
We settled in a basic motel just off Hwy 71 south that was clean, comfortable and met our needs. It was a great location as it is surrounded by many stores and restaurants.
Although we only took one night to drive around and explore, we stumbled on some communities that were gems called German Village and the adjacent Brewery district.
We stopped at a gay bar called Club Diversity which is situated in a beautiful victorian house, complete with a piano setup for cabaret nights and a welcoming outdoor patio with cozy lawn furniture. This place was full of friendly patrons, and helpful bartenders too.
And the city itself looks so clean and orderly. We were impressed with the lushious green vegetation, not only in the city parks but off to the sides of the highways.
We rolled through an obvious low-income area but found that even around the liquor stores there wasn't the hangin' out and riff-raff which is so commonly found in our city. The highlight for me: I swear I only saw one police car in and around town the whole time (3 days), which suggested to me that the need for patrol is minimal.
If I wasn't trying to get away from the midwest climate due to my impending arthritis, I'd put Columbus on my relocation consideration list.
