resell of house!!

I have decided to sell my house!! It is in a far remote location and I have realized i am a urban person rather than suburban. I don't like the drive every night from work. I would like to live near the library, stores, schools, banks, etc.. I have a beautiful house and I am likely to lose money when I sell, but like Warren Buffet says, invest your money!. I put a rather huge down payment(money i could've invested). I read an article that said, he bought a house in 1958 for $31k, it has gone up about 20 times. But had he invested the money in the market, it would've gone up 3000 times!!
My next plan is to buy a house in a not ready to move in condition, upgrade it myself and then sell with a profit not a loss.. and put down minimum amount so I can keep my money invested..
