Bamboo House

Posted 09-19-2014 at 06:40 PM by Drkahealani

I'm considering building a 500 sq foot bamboo house on the lot I purchased in HPP before building the main house.

I was told that the main house that I want to build will cost $200,000 to build. I'll have to save a lot of money to put down before I qualify for a construction loan. The house is 2 bedrooms, 2 1/2 baths and about 1700 sq. ft. It is a custom design not a pre-packaged home.

I'm paying about $11,000 in rent a year. So, a friend suggested I build a bamboo home, which is supposed to be less expansive and I can save to build my larger home. That way I wont't have to pay rent and can change the bamboo house into a guest house later.

Does anyone have experience with bamboo homes?
