Where in CA is right for me?

Posted 01-29-2009 at 11:18 AM by Bluebullys518

I currently live in upstate new york, and frankly have had enough of the below zero winters that seem to last forever, and the ever damning 100% humidity 90+ degree summers.
By the end of 2009 i plan to relocate somewhere in CA.
I am an expirienced bartender/manager, as well as a certified HVAC technician, so job availability seems to be pretty good in my fields throughout CA.
I would like to be close to the Sierras as I have 2 pitbulls and we enjoy camping and hiking quite often I also am an avid fisherman and dertermined snowboarder. However I lived part of my life on FL's coast and became quite the surfer/beach bum. so no more than a few hrs to the coast i would like to find a small house or large appt for under 1K Merced caught my eye but heard crimes bad. surrounding ares? ......well any thought from cali or ex californians would be apreciated
