This has been in the news in the EU for two years. It appears that abducting and killing albinos has become a lucrative form of "poaching."
I watched the special 20/20 did on this last Friday. I wept. It was so heartbreaking to see that human beings were being hunted like animals because of sheer prehistoric lunacy (witch doctor mumbo-jumbo). The woman in the story who is now living in an undisclosed country to protect herself for revealing what was going on should be commended and protected.
Hopefully Tanzania will step up to eliminate this phenomenon as soon as possible. They have enough problems dealing with preserving the last herds of wildlife migrating to and from the Serengeti - problems that affect us all globally.
I keep thinking about this and I become angrier. Killing someone for sport because of the color of one's skin. Sounds like something that has happened in the USA in the old days. That should never happen to anyone. If the president of Tanzania won't do something, someone should do something. Treating human beings like animals, in the literal sense.
This is the first time I heard of this sad news. They have good chances of being accepted as refugees in the western countries. Recently, a white male from South Africa successfully landed in Canada as a refugee because he was beaten up and harassed for being white.

Steve Nash is originally South-African born and lived in Canada for most of his life. Interesting. I hope that person who moved to Canada will do better.
The whole world needs to know about this stuff. If Hitler was exposed earlier and the Jewish people in Europe were given refugee status, well, things may have turned out differently.
I'd heard they were giving them all cell-phones so they could call in case of danger. (Tanzanians often don't have cell phones) Don't know what came of that.
After watching the video I think my initial version was too cold and analytical. This is just so awful. I generally think you should try to respect and tolerate other people's religion, but these particular witch-doctors "religion" sounds just completely sick. It might be the only place on Earth where "witch trials" might not be a bad idea. Awful.
