My family and I are looking into moving to foley, alabama and we were wondering how the heating and air conditioning jobs are anywhere in the gulf coast area? My husband is an hvac technician with 3 years experience here in kingman, az and we want to make sure that there is work there and if it is in demand. If so do you know how much the pay is? Also do you have to be nationwide certified as well? We are originally from hawaii and we really miss the ocean so any info that we could get will be much appreciated! Thankyou so much!

I do not know about jobs available, but if the a/c goes down people start calling.

I say go for the move and see if ya like it here.

Good luck with your choice

The a/c guys stay pretty busy around here, even in my small town. It gets hot and very humid here so the a/c units get worked hard. HVAC technicians are needed during the winter too since the majority of people use heat pumps now. Condo developments are also always looking for maintenance men who are HVAC certified.

Thanks so much guys! This is very helpful information for us. I am also very happy to hear that they use heat pumps there since that is what my husband does here during the winter times. Thanks to both of you again!

Just wanted to let you know that we moved to Foley in 2001 from San Clemente, Ca. My husband had been in the HVAC business for 30 years and had a real hard time finding employment. The pay is very low and the jobs are hard to come by. We ended up moving to Northern Alabama a year ago and the jobs are everywhere and the pay is very competive with the pay in California. It is a very beautiful area but the pay is not there as it is a "tourist" town that has gotten to be more like souther California.
think twice unless you are ready to retire!!!!
