I've been away fromn the academic world for more than 30 years and am considering doing a Masters program somewhere, but the GRE is scaring the begeegies out of me. Anyone know anything about GRE requirements at AK schools?

Graduate School | Test Scores and Information
Talk to the graduate program director or assistant in the department you're interested in to get an idea of what kinds of scores are considered competitive. Mostly, just study hard and focus on your weak areas and do the best you can. The GRE really isn't that bad. Get a current study guide or two and take practice tests. Grad school admissions depend on a lot more than GRE scores. You need to get in contact with potential advisers in the departments you're applying to, because you won't get in without someone wanting to take you on as a student. If a faculty member really wants you in the program, test scores will be less important.

JoDan, if you have significant "life experience" particularly if it's related to the field you are interested in studying, you may be able to get a waiver. Just as Tigre suggested, speak to the advisor/director to see about this.
