I have jumped on a fantastic opportunity to transfer within my company to a new store opening in Juneau. And to that end - my cousin and I are excitedly looking for a new place to call home. We will be arriving in Juneau between the 28 Aug and the 3 Sept after an amazing 10 day cross country drive! For me this is a dream come true - I have been wanting to come to Alaska to live since I was about 10, so I am very excited about this!

A little about us:
Lisa [me] - 36, non-smoker/non-drinker/good ole country girl from Virginia/West Virginia
Hobbies include painting, photography, reading, blogging and all species animal training
Full time employed with Petco [currently in North Carolina] as their Aquatics Specialist and Dog Trainer - both of which I have more than 17 years experience in as well as operating my own dog training business
Fantastic references from current property manager, employer and character references from clients if needed
Clean background check
Lived in New Zealand for the last 12 years so have no credit rating - not bad - just nothing...
Has 2 dogs - 22 month old Newfoundland girl [Ayla] - therapy dog certified and 9 month old Australian Shepherd mix girl [Elki] - up and coming agility dog. Both go to work with me every day and are clean, fully trained and well behaved indoor dogs.
Pet references from both property manager and employer can be provided - they are very quiet, do not chase cats/children and are never out unsupervised.

Tracy [my cousin] - 35, non-smoker/non-drinker/good ole farm girl from West Virginia - currently living on a small horse farm
Hobbies include reading, writing, music and movies
Is currently applying for work in various places around Juneau [so if you are hiring let me know as well]
Has always helped out on the farm so has no rental references but can provide employer and character references if needed
Clean background check
Has 1 cat - 13yo [Hera]

What we are looking for:
We would really like to find a place to call home long term. I will be with Petco at least another 2 years as part of the relocation deal, so you can be assured of good, quiet, clean tenants for a while.
It doesn't have to be fancy - we just want someplace where the animals are welcome, the rent can be afforded on a retail wage and we are not sharing walls on all four sides with someone [farm girls and apartments just don't mix]
Our ideal situation is a house away from downtown with a view of some trees and even a glimpse of some glacial mountains would be great. Heck, it can be at a roads end, back in the sticks and we will love it.
Prefer 3bdrm but will certainly look at 2bdrms as well. A mobile home is also fine - single or doublewide.

So if you have a place to rent and would consider two country girls and their pets - please contact me at your convenience. We look forward to hearing from you!

Please contact Lisa on [919] 886 9084 or email desperadopets@gmail.com. Thanks!

Just wondering if you ended up finding a good place. I'm moving to Juneau with two cats from New Zealand in a few weeks and so far, I'm not coming up with much. If you have any suggestions for websites, realtors, etc. please let me know. I'd appreciate any help I could get! Thanks!

I would bet an awful lot that this person didn't find even close to what they were looking for. Retail wage doesn't go far in a town where the expected rent for a house could be upwards of $2,000 a month plus utils.
