First visable snow on the mountains. Generally meaning summer will soon come to a close...

When you see a line of fresh snow across the tops of the mountains, which look as if someone put a ruler across them and sprayed the tops white.

What it means is the "Termination of Summer" is at hand amd that is a warning you have about six weeks (or less) to either get ready for winter, or get out!

Thus... "Termination Dust"

We were sitting out on the deck this morning, drinking coffee, and commenting on the leaves changing color already. No surprises. The moose came through a week ago and cleaned up the garden, so I guess I'm ready for fall.

Awsome! Sweden and I are planning a trip across the Denali Highway. Maybe there will be some color around that area for photo's. Nothing nicer than fresh snow on the peaks with the yellow/orange leaves on the tree's.

Don't take too long to travel the Denali. Should be OK by mid September, but after that it could be iffy (the snow could be flying non stop). Sometimes it's snowing and cloudy, then it clears, the snow melts, and the day turns beautiful. The landscape is just amazing, and so along the Richardson from Delta Junction to Paxon, and then down to Valdez.

Here in ANC, there was new dust at the very tops of the highest peaks in the Chugach after this last storm cleared on Thurs. And all of the Fireweek has just topped out last week. So that puts us on track for mid to late September. A short Summer indeed!
