Has anyone ever been to Kantishna? I'm going in a couple weeks and was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for what to "for sure" do while we're there. I'm sure we'll go fishing and hiking. What else ya got?

You could mine some gold or shoot some wolves.

Are you biking, busing or flying in?

I've been there, but only as a drop off point on a Denali flight seeing trip. If the weather is favorable, such a trip is highly recommended.

Driving a company rig... my friend is going there for a work trip and he's taking me. His plan is to get there as soon as possible, I'm going to help him knock-out the work he has to get done, then we play the rest of the time. I told him I think we should plan to take some time on the drive in. I think we'll be there for 4 days, 3 nights.

Good call on the flight seeing. Right now the forecast is rain, but you could better forecast the weather in the mountains on a ouija board than with actual science.

This sounds more like a date than a work arrangement . I've never been but I'm jealous you get to drive the park road without being on a bus with tourists. One of these days I'll win the park road lottery if I ever remeber to put in for it. Have fun.

You're right

Yeah, I am super excited to get to go and not have to be on a bus with a bunch of gringos. Uhh, and to have my friend's employer pay for the trip, cos god knows I would never kick down the cash to stay up there! And, and, and...

Really I'm just really excited that I get to go.

OK, isn't there are roadhouse there? My friend used to work there -- it's supposed to be pretty good.

Yes and trust me we will visit the roadhouse, but we're staying at the lodge, which apparently is about a mile down the road.
