Hi all,
hoping someone can give me some advice.....reasonable advice that is

I'm looking at the above snow machine, it has about 2500 miles on it, it has a problem with the pull start, it skips sometimes, which I'm sure is the recoil mechanism (not sure what they cost) and has a small crack were you secure the hood. I'm going to look at it tonight. I don't know much about these things, I do know this has been in a storage unit for a while, protected from the elements.

anyway, any advice on this machine? It will be my first on and I just plan to do some riding on the trails and use it for hunting at times. I'm told, by a guy I work with, that the 670 is a good machine.....

Thanks in advance.

I just went and looked at it, it is a 97 not a 99, not that makes any difference.

Those machines have a strange 2 stage throttle, it has a sudden jump amd if you aren't paying attention that thing will really launch when you get into the second stage. Other than that, fun machine.

I had a '99 MXZ 670HO...it was a riot! Nothing like the old rotary valved Rotax engine! Pretty much bullet proof. Plenty of power for anything you throw at it. Enjoy!

In got it running, but it keeps dieing and it is spitting out a lot of oil (I took the muffler off) , could the excessive oil coming out the exhaust be because of it missing? Or is it something else

Might want to bring it in and see if the rotary valve is still in good shape or it could be out of timing.

I don't want to take it in somewhere, I need to figure it out myself. I pretty much paid retail for this, the only thing that was suppose to be wrong was the cog in the recoil was worn. When you pull on the recoil it starts to turn then slips. I replaced it but it still slips after the first rotation, ill replace the metal part the cog pushes on and see what happens. Ill have to do some research and see what the rotary valve is

Up date:
pulled both carbs, found the right one was missing a plug in the opening, causing it to just dump fuel in. I took them both apart and bought a plug, then assembled them and it ran great for about 10 miles, then started missing. I noticed the left would open a little before the right carb, so I adjusted that and then had to increase the idle on the right one a little and it runs better. I took a compression test and I get 75 on the left and 60 on the right cylinder.....think my compression tester might be faulty, I wouldn't think a 2 stroke would run it the compression was that low. Seems to have a lot of power....I'm going to have to find another compression tester to verify what the PSI is.
