Oy. That blows, but at least you're making up for it... one way or another.

I feel your pain. A few years ago I got called for jury duty. I was scheduled to be out of town so I called the court clerk to see what could be done. Since I had already rescheduled once I was told I had to show up. When I tried to explain my situation I got the ...everyone is required by law to participate in jury duty... speech. The clerk went on to say that the jury pools were made up using the list of people that applied for the PFD and anyone that failed to show up would be reported to the PFD people. The conversation went downhill real fast when I asked if that meant that people that did not file for the PFD were exempt from having to serve on jury duty.

Mine is earmarked for nothing in particular-except apples. Good ones though, without the candy coating.
Not that you were obligated to, but why didn't you help the lady out with a dollar?

I usually put it into land and property improvements...repairs, making stuff run cleaner, lessening my ecological footprint, etc. However I do enjoy the irony of making my home and car more and more energy efficient....so I use less Big Oil!

Nice thought. It happened fairly fast, at 730 AM, and actually never occurred to me. Also, I generally don't favor the idea of assisting people in buying unhealthy food or drink.

At the time, I was relieved for her sake that she couldn't buy them.

I would have given the woman a buck so she could have her caramel apples. They could have been treats for grandkids or whatever. Maybe that's all she had to offer for some sort of special occasion.

Four caramel apples would be about $10. One dollar wouldn't even get her one.

I was responding to this post.

Doesn't matter to me what the actual amount would have been unless it was something completely outrageous; my answer was based on her being a buck or so short and not on the entire cost of the apples.

SMH.
