Anyone have any experience with a reasonable shipper for getting a motorcycle up from the lower 48? (Southern California area).

Default AML or TOTEM

You might try Alaska Marine Line or Totem. The former handles all kinds of freight by barge, the latter mostly contanerized freight. If you have some time on your hands and some flexibility, you might try riding it up to WA state and taking the ferry up instead of flying. It's a beautiful trip, the winter rates are cheaper for cabins, and it's a lot cheaper to book passage for a motorcycle than for a car.

It will cost you as much to drive it as shipping, and the drive will be a really good adventure.

But if you want to ship, you might want to contact a couple of the bike shops in Anchorage. They deal with groups that ship their bikes North for summer runs and then back. The Anchorage House of Harley www.harleyalaska.com may help point you in the right direction.
