We're considering a move to Placitas when my husband retires in 2 years. We have nearly non-existent cell & internet coverage where we live now & want to change that when we move. Needless to say we're very curious about how things are tech-wise in Placitas?

We're Placitas residents, have Verizon, and enjoy consistent internet coverage.

We're also in Placitas. The tech service depends pretty much on where you are along the 7 miles from I25 to the village. We're about 2 miles east of I25 and have Comcast cable and internet. Other areas also have Comcast service, but it availability is more spotty as you get closer to the village. I expect that any development built in the last 15 years or so will have been wired for cable. There's probably a way to check with them to see.

Qwest installed a DSL station 3-4 years ago near I25, so that's available 3-4 miles east of I25 (I think you can check the availability on their web site). Cell service is much better now. For the first 5-6 years after moving here, we got no signal at our house. With new towers near I25 and along 165, the service is much more consistent pretty near everywhere. We use Tracfone, which piggybacks on other providers, and have good service.

Default Thank you!

What a relief to hear that we won't have dial-up service in Placitas! I'm coming to ABQ for a conference April 20th & will be spending one day with a real estate agent to look at areas (Placitas is at the top of our list) & look at some houses. We're absolutely thrilled about the prospect of moving to NM when DH retires in 18 months! Thanks again for your input.
