I am reminded (as I sit here, sipping a highly potent alcoholic beverage) of many different people who have told me that although they enjoy drinking, the eschew tequila b/c 'it makes [them] crazy.'

(Crazy as in they behave totally off the wall.)

I don't know...is there something else in tequila that makes people crazy, or is it a culture thing?

I don't know, but the few times I've had it in its staright form did have a "different" effect. Not all bad, just different.

I think there must be something else in tequila that causes a different feeling...and I'm not talking about the worm!
You're right though, it does seem to create a very unique buzz.

I take mine with lime and salt, btw. In case you'd like to pour me a shot.

I think it's all in your head; ethanol is ethanol. Is it possible that some botanical agent derived from agave causes an ancillary reaction with the ethanol? I guess anything is possible, but I doubt it.

I've never experienced a difference, but there have been a lot of people who have said something.

All I know is most alcohol makes me tired but not Tequila....it makes me want to dance and gives me energy! That might be where the "crazies" come in......it's the only alcohol I will drink straight. I enjoy the high but alas I have decided to stick with a nice glass of wine now. Those were the days when I was younger though.....
Oddly enough Tequila is the one alcohol I don't get a hangover from. My DH is quite the opposite..it is the "one" that will give him the hangover! Hmmmmmm

I looooove tequila. Back in my youth it was my drink of choice. I could drink shots of the stuff, no hangover or anything. Now 2 margaritas and I am out like a light. Sigh, having children really ruins your tolerances. Oh the stories I could tell......

You and I both!! Memories! I also did shots and just danced the night away! Ha! Yes, having kids does change a person---having grandchildren changes you even more! It means we are getting older and our bodies don't work like they use to but, ah, we still have the memories!!
