Do you agree with the statement?

Cuba, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Jamaica, and Trinidad have created musical genres that have impacted international genres that other regions in the Americas can only dream of doing.

It's very good music, but it's not my favorite. Besides, there is no such thing as "the best." It's all just preference.

You can't just stack up the whole Caribbean region against other countries in the Americas. The U.S alone would win, let alone including Bossa Nova of Brazil, traditional music of Mexico, and Rock of Argentina.

Yeah this is more about preference. I'm into U.S funk.

I'd put: 'Thank You Fa Lettin Me Be Mice Elf Agin' by Sly and The Family Stone

and

'Flashlight' by Parliament

against any song you can find outside the U.S

Both songs changed/modernized music.

--------------------

Lets not overlook the vast influence of U.S music. The blues and Jazz have shaped many other styles.

You only say that because you don't REALLY know Brazilian music...

Brazilian music is the best IN THE WORLD, no doubt about it!

Yes, to me...the region does have the majority of my favorite genres, but everyone is different.

Indeed! Almost all modern genres today owe their basic bass elements and structure to blues.
