What I think what the Latin baseball countries could do is form a unifying league with clubs from Mexico, PR, DR, Cuba, Venezuela and Colombia.

They already have something similar to that. The team that wins each countries national baseball season goes off to the Caribbean Series where the winning team of each countries play each other until a definite winner arises. Each year the Caribbean Series takes place in a different country and people from through out Latin America travel to see the games in person. They even show the games on ESPN.

Here's a game of the 2011 Caribbean Series when the Mexican team beat the Dominicans. The games were played in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico between Puerto Rican, Mexican, Dominican, and Venezuelan teams.

In 2008 the games were played in Santiago, Dominican Republic.

In 2013 it was in Hermosillo, Mexico.

This year it will be in San Juan, Puerto Rico; last year it was in Nueva Esparta, Venezuela; and next year it will be in La Romana, Dominican Republic.

The way the NFL now plays games in London..I can see something like that happening. Or maybe some sort of mlb pre/post season game of "The Chicago Cubs vs. The Dominican Republic national team."

No need to say people there don't have any food!
Save it.
If you don't eat there is because you don't want to.

People shouldn't judge the country by what they see in the rural areas near Punta Cana, which is one of the least populated areas of the country. Unfortunately that's where most of the tourists go and they leave completely oblivious that the DR is home to the largest middle and upper classes in all of Central America and the Caribbean.

Santo Domingo

Santiago

Puerto Plata

As can be seen, no one has money for food. Oh the horror. Thank goodness tourists are able to tell what a country is like by visiting 0.001% of the territory and riding through sparsely populated poor countryside.

More evidence that people don't have a penny to their name over there.

The country now has 25 La Sirena stores which targets middle class costumers with a few other local chains with multiple additional outlets. Yep, no money. What was Walmart thinking when it offered them US$800 million for their middle class chain of stores. You do have to wonder.

Typical supermarket, apparently we can see that Sydney123 was correct that people can hardly buy food there. It looks empty of food and people. The horror.

Dominicans celebrating in the streets, notice that everyone rides in a donkey or horse, which is expected in a country where preople can't buy food.

Typical areas of Jarabacoa, up in the mountains. It's so poor it looks uncivilized, the horror.

African American women driving in Bonao which is a part of the DR most foreigners never see yet that's where most of the DR population lives. As you can see, it's all misery left and right. Maybe that is why these African American women are buying property over there.

More areas of Bonao, the horror.

More of Bonao. You can see that they really can't afford to buy food, just look at them. They hardly have any clothes, they don't even have leisure time. The horror.

I'm going to stop so that no one falls into some sort of depression. The horror, they don't even have money for food, the freaking horror. LOL

I do wonder what the experts that judge an entire country by what they see in the rural areas of Punta Cana will come up with. Maybe they will say it never gets cold in the DR, after all for miles on end in the Punta Cana area there is nothing but tropical weather. Don't forget to notice the donkeys they have because, as someone already said here, they don't have money even to buy food.

LOL

It is the most industralized city in the country. There is so many things to see and do there. Great museums, historic monuments, and an amazing nightlife. The problem, however, is baseball is not as popular there compared to Monterrey. The NFL is the second favorite sports league among Mexico City residents. You're also dealing with higher altitude in DF at 2,229 ft vs Denver at 1,593 ft; and let's not forget the pollution and crime.

Monterrey is a good choice as well. Baseball is big there as is the NFL. Travel time is shorter compared to Mexico City. But it is a significantly smaller market that doesn't have the cache as DF and not as nearly as exciting either.

A Santo Domingo team would be just as bad. It is a poor nation. The travel time to Santo Domingo would be atrocious for practically every team except Tampa and Miami.
I don't understand how you can complain about the travel time to Santo Domingo being atrocious while stating Mexico city would be an obvious choice for a base ball team in Latin America since that is just as far if not further from most MLB teams then Santo Domingo is.

This is what the real experts that sell market research information to serious businessmen and international corporations say.

Consumer Lifestyles in Dominican Republic

Another look at the country where no one is able to buy food. LOL

Bani, a typical Dominican town in the interior where basically 0% of tourists visit. Its so poor people are begging in every corner. LOL

Through a rural/suburban area of La Vega, the misery that dominates there is just horrendous, as can be seen on the video. Its a good thing practically 0% of tourist visit this area.

Its simply horrible, completely horrible. No money for anything.
