I am about to move to Anchorage and was wondering what the performing arts scene is like? I have noticed a few dance companies and theatres, but I would like to know if any are especially esteemed. I am a professional dancer, choreographer, and enjoy doing musicals as well. Any thoughts would be much appreciated!!

Rude. you could at least ad some commentary. Anyways, the arts community of Anchorage I think is more prominent then most would would think. There's a few art galleries around town, local theaters where plays are sometimes musicals are put on, gotta say I don't know much about dance groups at all, but I know of the Fred Astere dance studio. I think the arts community can tend to take themselves a little too seriously in a town sized like this, and is perceived as snobby, but maybe that's the nature of the beast everywhere. Anyways I think arts community is pretty neat here, again, don't know anything about dance groups tho.

I assume it's me you are calling rude...
I didn't offer commentary because I really didn't have much time available. I thought I'd at least throw out a couple of links for the OP to check and do some of their own research on. I figured a little help was better than no help...

So tell me again how the arts community takes itself too seriously and can be snobby... Isn't that the pot calling the kettle black?
