There is definitely more to Anchorage than its architecture! It's got a lot going for it, though it's not as nice as it was 40 years ago - but then what is! But great views all around any season of the year, wildlife, trails, cultural events, and an pretty nice appreciation for being so close to Alaska So one can enjoy dinner and a show, some shopping, etc..then take a short drive to breath-taking pristine wilderness for more fun.

Again, I really didn't mean to offend anyone by my post. I was simply stating my opinion/observations. The people in Alaska though are some of the warmest I've ever met anywhere. I guess it's stupid to compare LA and Anchorage People in AK also don't seem to care what the lower 48 thinks of them, and I really respect that.

You are entitled to that opinion. We just find it funny when people try to compare Alaska to lower48 cities or areas.
Alaska is its own place. View it that way. It'll be much more pleasant.

I'm at Chena right now actually. The hot springs are so relaxing! I felt cleansed after going in them. Good food, but on the expensive side. The rooms are comfortable, but remind me more of a college dorm than a resort. If I ever find myself up here again (I probably will), I'll go for just the springs.

Your right about this. Alaskans don't care what others think. I've been to Los Angeles and I thought it was nothing but a cesspool of humanity. I didn't care for it at all and would never go back. Too many people.

You must mean all the clean, fancy, late model cars all around you while stuck in traffic.

Are you sure you explored all of Anchorage before you decide to knock it? It's one of the nations largest cities by area at 1,961 square miles, many of which is wilderness. While Los Angeles is 13.3 times the size in population, Anchorage is 4x as big in land.

I love soviet architecture, I just wish we had a command and control economy like Russia.
