We have a Victorian house with a "spire" on the roof of one of the rooms... my wife hates it... any suggestions on what I can do about it? Thanks.

Sell your home. Do not destroy the spire. It's a Victorian.

Do you have a picture? What does your wife hate about it?

Why would you buy a Victorian if your wife hates the fundamentals of Victorian architecture? That's like buying a Georgian but hating fan lights. Or buying Pueblo revival but hating flat roofs.

Technically if your house has a spire, it's probably not a Victorian, but a Queen Anne, which is a post-Victorian style.

But yes, don't remuddle your house just because your wife doesn't like it. Someone else is going to love that that original feature is intact.

I love those spires. It totally defines the house.

Please do not get rid of it.
