Question.

Used car is registered in my name out of state. Car over 15 years old.

Now reside in AZ.

What is the registration process to get AZ plates?

Note: The car has no title. In old state no title if car is over 15 years old. They just don't do it. Budget thing or something. Can't get one. No title.

Any DMV office? And what about Veterans Plate?

The lack of a title may be an issue, but there has to be a way to get it done. Did you buy it used, and not get a title? Start with Motor Vehicle Services and see if you can find answers to your questions. You may need to call them about the title issue, but you can go to any MVD office and talk to them and hopefully get it done. They may be aware of the situation in your prior state and know how to work around it.

I've never heard of a state not issuing title to a car based on its age.... It had a title before it got too old, how much can it cost to reissue it?

Just go to your local AZ Registry of MV office in AZ with your ID and your current registration. Be guided by them.

My guess is, no problem.

Rich

Just remembered. We registered two autos in AZ (from MA). Just showed current MA registrations for both, got plates.

I would just go to a local MV office and tell them the situation and let them make the rules about what you need to do. They (should) have the most up to date information regarding your particular situation. Also depending on where you live you might need to have emissions testing done.

I agree with the others so far, Unit . . .

Gather up your checkbook plus all of your documents on the vehicle and head to the most convenient MVD office.

Expect to have the vehicle inspected (VIN Check, etc), possibly an emission test depending on your location and be charged about $25 for the plates, about $10 for the title and an additional $25 if you order a PLP. Expect to "be involved" for a few hours.

Good Luck and keep us posted.

OP just go to the AZ DMV with VIN proof, such as registration card, insurance card with VIN, or any other proof. They'll issue you a title and register the vehicle once it goes through emissions test (if required). It's easy to get a title. My wife lost the title to her car and she got a new one on the spot at the DMV.
