How small is it? Is it a family friendly town or more for retired folks?

Where did you hear about Chloride?

It's a town of 350 people, and it's 20 miles to the nearest real town (Kingman). As such, I would say it's not really friendly to anyone other than eccentric desert rats.

There was an ad in CL for a job at the animal shelter that included a free apartment

Interesting. It makes you wonder why they couldn't fill the job with any locals. It's not like there are a lot of jobs there. Are you going to apply for it?

Just curious, what on that website do you feel answers the OP's questions?

Ones about size, which obviously fluctuates, the makeup of the population and perhaps any historical questions she might have like I know I've always had before moves and potential moves.

Why do you ask?

You see something about the size and the makeup of the population there? I must be blind. If that information is there, then I agree it would be useful. But I don't see anything like that on that site. It's the Chamber of Commerce website, and basically an advertisement. I don't see how anybody could get an idea of whether it's kid or retiree friendly, or even the population which is what the OP was asking about. Maybe it's there, but I'm missing it.

Guess I'm just a bit of a history buff so I read the whole thing. Under 1871 was this:

Quote:
Presently, the continuous population is around 150 and reaches a high of 250 during the winter months when "snow-birds" come in from the cold. Many of the present day citizens are retirees, artists, musicians, and the like. Some residents work locally, some have their own shops, while others work in the casino industry in Laughlin or Las Vegas or are employed in one of many businesses in Kingman.
Don't know why they put it there!

Look at that! I stand corrected, sir. My only defense is that it is indeed a pretty silly place for that sort of info.
