The state of Arizona got a bit of national attention this week after online site BuzzFeed compiled a list of the top attributes of the Grand Canyon State Tuesday.

The list, titled “36 Reasons Why Arizona Is The Best State,” mentions everything from the Flagstaff snow to the green Sonoran Desert. The Grand Canyon and the Hoover Dam, as usual, get their nod as classic tourist attractions.

This article about AZ got 64,000 hits on Facebook very quickly

36 Reasons Why Arizona Is The Best State

Arizona is home to some 6.5 million people. Even though the state often gets a bad rap and our hot summers, we still have one of the best states in the country!

6. In fact, you can be tanning in Phoenix…

7. And skiing in Flagstaff just a few hours later

8. Yes, it snows in Arizona…

11. But enough about snow. We get sun, lots of it. So everyone has a pool.

12. So we pretty much have pool parties year round. With a lot of alcohol.

This state is incredibly beautiful. No doubt about it. I think that we get overshadowed by California about 99% of the time. Maybe even 100%.

Most of the time it's "Eww, the heat."

Arizona - I've never been there, but I'll try to make reasonable/accurate assumptions.

If you're talking about comparing CA to AZ, unfortunately for those Arizona natives who love their (awesome) state, California has basically everything that Arizona has (desert, heat, snow, lakes, golf, skiing, tanning), and even a bit more (seaside life). In terms of the people, I can't possibly compare because I haven't ever been to Arizona and I've only been to San Fran, Carlsbad, and San Diego as far as California goes. If you're talking lifestyle, California seems to be more of those ultra-liberal, free-spirited, vegan hippie types who have $10 million dollar houses and lots whereas Arizona seems to me to be more about business and getting things done. But don't take this post too seriously - it's just from a very broad, outsider's perspective.

#37 - For a brief window in June, Arizona has the potential to have both the high temp and the low temp for the country. Usually once or twice a year the high temp will be someplace like Bullhead City and the low temp will be in Bellemont.
