After you apply for unemployment- how long does it take to start receiving your weekly amount?

Depends on whether or not there are issues with your claim. I was wrongfully terminated from my job and got my benefits in about four weeks. It also depends on how you made the initial claim. Did you file online? If you haven't heard anything in four weeks, try contacting the office in person. If that doesn't work, call the governor's office if necessary. Some people have had to do that.

I waited two weeks. Apparently, I'm one of the lucky ones!

Filed August 11th online. Haven't gotten anything. Well except for the initial paperwork.
The claim has been accepted, employer encouraged to file, but still haven't received the card.
They are supposed to send a card right?
Is it usually faster online?
Sassie, did you apply online? How long until you got your card?

We can't wait 'till we get something.
Although the lump sum is also something to look forward to.

$240 while looking for work is defiantly better than nothing.

It certainly doesn't pay the bills, but it sure would help.

I hope the card comes sometime this week.

I applied online, got the card about a week later. Got $$$ another week after that. Then got a call from my employer to return back to work next month....so much for that!
