Are there any other Shanghai expats out there? I was wondering what you thought of life in Shanghai compared to where you're from and other cities you've lived in.
I've been living in Shanghai almost two years now after having lived in:
* USA: Seattle, College Station (TX), Wisconsin (various cities)
* Europe: Krakow, Poland
* Asia: Taipei
I've visited dozens of other cities in all three continents as well.
Overall, I'd rank Shanghai: Good:
* One of the fastest-changing cities I've seen
* One of the most optimistic (in terms of the future potential)
* The most recession-proof economy
* Having nearly the best physical infrastructure (roads, especially)
Bad:
* The rudest (pushing, shouting, spitting, peeing in public)
* The worst customer service in restaurants

Firstly, thanks for providing some your view on Shanghai. About the GOOD points, we will continue to promote them. and for the BAD points, we do deserve to improve them. As you have seen, we are in the process of fast ecnomic increase, but maybe sometime we kinda ignore the development of spiritual civilization. we are really appreciating expats can give their commentary on China, and I believe chinese will do better in spiritual civilization in future.
