I am going on a trip to Beijing later this month and am looking for a VPN that I could use while being there because sites like Google or Wikipedia, which I frequently use are banned in China.
This article is supposedly updated every week with VPNs that are NOT blocked by China’s Great Firewall.
MAYBE someone has visited China not long ago and can confirm if the article is really up to date?

The article is dated from April 26th so probably up to date - but really is it worth it? If you are going to be traveling for a month or so maybe but a week or two it's not worth the trouble. Also - sometimes you find hotels that offer VPN so you may not need it.
Better yet - don't use electronics at all, leave them at home (or bring like a burner phone). If you are there for business, particularly in a tech field, you are going to come back with a cell phone or PC full of spyware regardless. Ask me how I know.
Remember my 2 years in China 2014-2016 and Strong VPN which I downloaded in USA was a godsend Going to Hong Kong and all the sudden being able to get Facebook and other sites so easily was the height of excitement for me.
Depends how long you will be in China. I use the roaming eSIM from 3 Hong Kong on my Apple phone (need one that supports eSIM though). Works for all websites in China (as it is a HK-based SIM and not blocked by the Great Firewall) and they email you the QR code, so no need to go to HK to purchase. Costs US$18 for 10 days, so for short visits, can be cheaper than VPN as this already includes LTE access. https://www.three.com.hk/eSIMMall/ch...x.jsp?lang=eng
Express VPN is what I use when I go to China. Just make sure to download the app/software to your phone/computer before you get to China.
