Short story, the family of a humanist and his wife who were interred at Arlington Cemetery were sent religious blessings both verbally and written by two Arlington Ladies. This was against the explicit wishes of the family.

Arlington Cemetery has again confirmed its secular policy and is requiring the women in question to make amends. Good on you, Arlington.

Moved in here for no good reason. I see we're still being hidden away where we can't bother anyone, no big surprise there. In reality, this should be out in the main forum, because it's not just relevant to atheists. It's important to show this information to people who aren't atheists so that they fully understand that when they do things like the Ladies did, it can hurt people.

Of course there is, for the facts in your OP clearly demonstrate the arrogance and complete lack of understanding of boundaries and civility that people that believe in ancient superstitions see as acceptable.

People that believe in absurdities have no problem with their atrocious actions or behavior.

Very true considering the fact that secularists/humanists aren't necessarily atheists, either.

Good show, Arlington Cemetery. And I agree with all the preceding posts as well.

What I found even more disturbing is a story the article you're talking about linked to:

Texas Legislators and Christian Groups Fight to Insert God Into Vets' Funerals -- Against Families' Wishes | | AlterNet

Who do these people think they are, demanding to be able to inflict their religion upon a grieving family?
