OUR latest Drama here is that we are not teaching figure drawing classes at the art center now because the new Fundie/Christian directors object to nudity in art. I guess nudity is a "sin" or something....

I still have no idea how this happened, but there were enough of them to form a voting block and get their personal agenda on this issue pushed through. Very sad, because the community suffers through the "bad art for bad art's sake" agenda they run...Of course, these people have no artstic training, no insight and really don;t know what they are doing. Except trying to ruin things for everyone else.

No big deal, next town over we are doing it there, and doing it well.....cranking out artwork and teaching people how to draw. Several of us are doing that much. And we are speaking out against these people, after a year or so, if their popularity is in the tank as a result of this, they will be gone and things will get back to normal.

Nudity in art.....what else will these people dream up next ?

Strange...you would think Christians would want to celebrate God's beautiful creation. But apparently they'd rather cover it with man made clothing instead.

Oh it is BAD!!!!!
They made someone take down a painting of a mermaid (Hmmmm) Paint "sea-shells" over the bare breasts and return it to the wall. What gets me is that this person DID That. Had it been me I'd have walked out with the painting and they'd have never seen it, or me, again.

Maybe they're just scared they wouldn't be able to control themselves. We're talking about a lot of lustful thinking sins here

It may relate to envy, which I think is a sin among christians. Most nude paintings I have seen have models with beautiful human form and being realistic most humans today don’t have that form (me included). It makes me think they are just jealous, and don’t like to see those who still look better. Than again you could have those people who shower in their clothes so as not to see what nature gave them. It is a shame regardless of what caused any group to limit the gift of human expression.

Three years ago, my son's teacher put post-it notes over the bare breasts of women in National Geographic. When he brought it home, I couldn't stop laughing.

We gave her a big pack of post-its for Christmas!

I firmly believe that people like that need therapy. There are some deep, deep shame issues there.

Gee, wonder where they got it?

Default My message to them:

If it offends you so much, don't look at.
Don't spoil everyone else's time because you can't handle nudity.

Good grief.

Perhaps, considering religious images portraying a half naked Jesus being crucified, they will demand that such nudity be covered up....paint a shirt on him or something!!
