Believe it or not I need this information for a book I'm working on. What are the primary streets downtown that the panhandlers downtown hang out on? And do they make a habit of urinating in the street? Thanks for your help.

It's not just a where issue. It's a when issue too. Panhandlers like street vendors are most visible when there's a big crowd downtown from an event or a convention.

At night during a convention you find them around Hardy Ivy Park and around the least well lighted streets near the big hotels like the Marriot.

It also depends on your definition of panhandler. You seldom see people sitting on a corner asking passersby for change (it happens but more rarely now). What's more usual is to see the guys who are trying to give visitors directions for money. Those guys are often near the Hard Rock Cafe.

Homeless people often relieve themselves under the 75-85 overpass on Edgewood and Auburn. But only a small numer of that crowd asks for change. Still, some of the most annoying panhandlers I've encountered are on the east side of this overpass targeting the patrons of nearby restaurants. It certainly doesn't deter me from going to the awesome Pizzeria Vesuvius though.
