I am a IT contractor and have found that most of the available work is either downtown/midtown area or North Atlanta (Perimeter/Alpharetta/Roswell) area. We are considering buying a condo to shorten our commute but looking for a family friendly area close to a great diverse elementary school. Any suggestions?

Why a condo? What is your budget?

Some People Like Condo/Townhouses because all the outside stuff is handled by the HOA. I Dont have any location suggestions, But how long do you plan to be in the Condo/TH? How old is your child? Most of the school in North Fulton / South Forsyth are some of the best in the state. Depending on your schedule, you can hit the park/ride's to Marta for a not to bad run into town. Driving well ... you can look at the other threads about traffice in the Atlanta area.

Looking at condo because once we really decide where we are going to settle we want to keep the condo for an investment. Budget is mid 200K to for 2/3 bedroom and fairly new construction. Looking at purchasing the condo in midtown area.

You'll need to bear in mind that most condos allow only a very small percentage of units to be rented out, and that, in this economy, there is generally a long waiting list for owners who want to be able to rent out their unit.
