I'm starting new job in Buckhead next week. They said I can come to work either by 7:30am, 8am, or 9am - just have to stick to that schedule.

Does anyone know which time frame would be best for me to go to work in the morning? I know the traffic is gonna suck no matter what but maybe, hopefully, there is a better time to travel even in rush hours? Thanks!

Yuck, that's a long commute no matter how you look at it!

None of the options are really advantageous in one way or another. If you have to arrive at 7:30 am, you can probably beat a lot of the outer suburban traffic backups at least down to Norcross or I-285. The problem is that leaving Buckhead at 4:30 pm is going to be rough because so many others are also trying to head home before 5:00 pm. Leaving Buckhead after 6:00 pm would be a little better for the drive home, but then your morning commute would be more snarled in the Gwinnett suburbs.

If you do not have a set time for leaving work, then I would definitely pick the 7:30 am start time. If you're willing to use public transportation, it might be easier to drive to a Park n Ride or to the Doraville Marta station and ride into Buckhead.

Good luck with your decision!

My guess is that once you battle your way inside 285 it won't be too bad. Traffic intown is like a breath of fresh air compared to the areas further out.

Good luck on the new job!
