I'm from Gwinnett looking to take some beginning classes in conversational German for a trip at the end of the year. I would prefer not to trek all the way downtown but instead stay in Gwinnett. Does anybody know of any opportunities like this?

I don't know of anything, but I'm also sort of interested in something like this too. I have had to fly to Germany alot the last 4 years or so for work. Although I'll probably just end up buying Rosetta Stone software.

Where all will you be going and for how long? It is actually really easy to get around Germany only knowing English.

I know. I've been before. I'm just weary of not knowing anything about the native language.

That seems promising. The information from the provided link is a little out of date: according to their website, they've changed locations (but still in Norcross) and their e-mail address. Not much information on the website (http://www.atlantalanguages.com/) about German classes, although they do seem to have it on the books. It looks like their focus is really on Spanish. I just shot them an e-mail anyway, though, so I hope to hear back from them soon. Thanks for the info.

I appreciate the suggestion, but KSU is over an hour out of the way for me. I was hoping for something closer. (Makes me wish KSU was on THIS side of the metro area, though.)

The Goethe Institute is your best bet for legitimate German classes taught by Germans. It's in Midtown though.

How about this Meetup group in Lawrenceville:

Looks like it would be real conversational German.
